The Legend of Zelda is the first episode of the video game series of the same name, created and directed by Shigeru Miyamoto and created by Nintendo. The game was inspired by Miyamoto's imaginary adventures in the woods behind his house when he was a child. The game is set in a primitive incarnation of the kingdom of Hyrule and follows the adventures of the young Link, who must save Princess Zelda from the clutches of the evil Ganon by recovering the eight fragments of an object known as the Triforce.
