The story tells of the meeting between two children: Shouya Ishida, a very lively boy and Shouko Nishimiya, a deaf girl. Initially things between the two do not go well as Shouya enjoys teasing Shouko and mistreating her for her handicap. Their relationship, however, is not so simple and both will find themselves, over the years, to go through many difficulties.
The work won the 19th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Award in the "New Life Award" category in 2015.
