Still shaken by what she was forced to endure on the island of Yamatai, Lara Croft is determined to put her ordeal behind her. Her desire for tranquility vanishes, however, when her best friend Sam, poisoned by some toxic substance, needs her to save herself. Lara immediately sets out to find something that can help Sam. A thread of hope arises from the myth about an ancient mysterious artifact with healing abilities, perhaps also capable of explaining the supernatural events that occurred on Yamatai Island. However, Lara is not the only one hunting for the artifact: a ruthless tycoon, a mysterious company and an infinite series of minions will stop at nothing to exploit its power for their own devious purposes. The search will push Lara to travel across the globe, through a dense network of conspiracies, suspicions and enigmas - an adventure where the line between life and death is very thin indeed...
