Many years have passed since Aramar Thorne - twelve years old, a big brain and an inseparable notebook - saw his father. And so, when Captain Greydon Thorne returns home and asks his son to embark with him, it almost seems as if someone has redesigned Aram's world. In a flash, our young protagonist finds himself aboard the Wavestrider while Borgolago slowly transforms into a dot on the horizon. The joy of living an adventure, however, soon gives way to harsh reality, as Aram must learn how to use the sword and face the strange creatures that populate Azeroth. As if this wasn't enough, Aram is unable to integrate into the crew, nor to make friends with the young Makasa, the vice captain in charge of looking after him. And when things seem to be looking up, a band of pirates attack the Wavestrider and turn Aram's world upside down once again.
In an attempt to find his way home with the help of a simple compass, Aram will have to travel far and wide across Azeroth, encountering myriad dangers and wonders, and learn to know its inhabitants, drawing them in his beloved notebook and making unlikely alliances. Greydon's compass, however, never points north, and if it doesn't want to bring Aram and Makasa home - and to safety - what does destiny really have in store for them?
