They're not exactly friends in their little high school on the remote colony world of Meridian. Each of them has their own problems, from parents who are not very present to having to help their families, from wanting to get into a good college to hoping to star in the next successful holo-movie. But these problems are nothing compared to the threat that is about to hit their world. The alien alliance known as the COVENANT is about to lay siege to Meridian, for reasons not easily explained. When their villages are set on fire, the four boys find themselves stranded on high ground, outside the city shelter where the rest of the survivors have gathered. Together, Saskia, Dorian, Evie and Victor will find themselves embroiled in battle, with nothing to defend them except a few makeshift weapons and a wounded Spartan, one of the UNSC's super-soldiers. What comes from the destruction will determine the fate of Meridian and change the fate of humanity and its survival.
