One Piece is a manga written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda. The Italian edition is edited by Star Comics, which began publishing it in books corresponding to the Japanese volumes on 1 July 2001. The story follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy, a boy whose body took on the properties of rubber after having inadvertently ingested the devil fruit Gom Gom. Gathering a crew around him, Luffy explores the Grand Line in search of the legendary One Piece treasure and chasing the dream of becoming the new Pirate King.
The Wado Ichimonji is one of the twenty-one O-grade Wazamono swords. It belonged to Kuina, but after her death Zoro asked for it and obtained it from the girl's father. Zoro, after his two thousandth defeat against Kuina, decided to challenge her again but using real swords. Kuina accepted and used the family sword, the Wado Ichimonji, for the duel. After Zoro was defeated again, the two made a promise: one of them would become the greatest swordsman in the world. Unfortunately, the following day Kuina died in a domestic accident. Zoro then decided to ask her father to give her his sword, who thanked him and granted her request.
